Here’s your checklist:

How to Get a Kent County Marriage License


First, you’ll need to schedule an appointment at the Kent County Clerk’s Office.

Requirements:

Notes:

The marriage license is valid for 33 days from the application date.

There is a 3-day waiting period before the license can be picked up, and it must be picked up in person.

If previously married, bring proof of how the last marriage ended (divorce judgment, death certificate, or legal annulment).

Getting Married at the 63rd District Court


Once you get your marriage license, you can schedule a time with a judge or magistrate to hold your ceremony.


Requirements:


Your marriage license.

Your partner and two witnesses (18 or older).

A $10 fee paid on the day of the ceremony.


Notes:


Marriage ceremonies are performed on-site at the 63rd District Court on Thursday afternoons.

Appointments must be scheduled ahead of time, and the court’s calendar typically fills up about 2 months in advance.

The court does not provide witnesses, so make sure to bring your own.
