I’ve photographed so many couples who ditched the big wedding and went for a Wrightsville Beach elopement instead — simple, real, and right by the water.
Some bring just their parents, others make it a mini getaway weekend. Either way, it’s always personal, never cookie-cutter.
A Wrightsville Beach elopement is perfect if you want ocean views without the crowd. You’ll need a beach permit from New Hanover County if you’re setting up arches or chairs, but not if it’s just the two of you.
Most couples I work with book a nearby Airbnb or hotel, plan sunset vows, then head into Wilmington for dinner. I usually help them pick timing based on light and tide — around 5:30PM works great most of the year.
