How do you get married in Evansville, IN?
Here’s your checklist:
- Fill out a Marriage License Form. Start here.
- Get an appointment at the Vanderburgh County Clerk’s Office
- Bring a valid photo ID, driver’s license, or passport.
- Pay the marriage fees Indiana resident, bring $25 (includes application, copy, and certification fees). If you’re an out-of-state resident, bring $65.
- Bring proof of Social Security (card, paystub, or tax form).
- Attend the ceremony
- Hire an officiant and schedule your ceremony
- Attend your ceremony

The officiant will file the license with the Clerk’s Office.

How to Get a Vanderburgh County Marriage License
First, you’ll need to schedule an appointment at the Vanderburgh County Clerk’s Office:
• Schedule an appointment online or call (812) 435-5719.
Requirements:
• Complete the Marriage License E-File Application.
• Provide a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport.
• Provide proof of Social Security.
• Both applicants must apply in person at the Vanderburgh County Clerk’s Office in Evansville to receive your marriage license.
• Fees:
• Indiana Residents: $25
• Out-of-State Residents: $65
Notes:
• You both must be at least 18 years old. If either of you is 16 or 17, you’ll need parental consent.
• The marriage license is valid for 60 days in Indiana.
• The Clerk’s Office does not perform the ceremony. You’ll need an officiant to do that for you.

Once you get your marriage license, you can schedule a time with the City Clerk’s Office for your ceremony.
