Here’s your checklist:

How to Get a Wayne County Marriage License
First, you’ll need to schedule an appointment at the Wayne County Clerk’s Office.

Requirements:
• Complete a Marriage License Application.
• Provide a Valid Photo ID, Driver’s License, or Passport.
• Provide a Certified Copy of Your Birth Certificate.
• Provide Proof of Social Security.
• Pay the Marriage License Fee: $20 for Wayne County Residents, $30 for Non-Residents.
Notes:
• Apply in the county where you or your partner reside. If both are out-of-state residents, apply in the county where the marriage will take place.
• There’s a 3-day waiting period after applying before the license can be issued and used.
• The marriage license is valid for 33 days from the date of application.
• A $10 fee applies if you wish to waive the 3-day waiting period.
• If previously married, bring proof of how the last marriage ended (Divorce Judgment, Death Certificate, or Legal Annulment).

Once you get your marriage license, you can schedule a time with an officiant to hold your ceremony.

• Your Marriage License.
• Your Partner and Two Witnesses.

• The Officiant and Witnesses Will Sign the Marriage License During the Ceremony, Making Your Marriage Legally Valid.
