How to Get an Alexandria Marriage License


There's two ways to schedule an appointment, you can get your Marriage License either way.


In-Person

Visit the Clerk’s Office at one of the kiosks.


Video Appointment

Email circuitclerk.appointments@alexandriava.gov with the following details:

  • Full names, emails, and phone numbers of both parties.
  • Two preferred dates and times for your appointment.
  • Planned ceremony date.

REQUIREMENTS:


Application Form: Complete online or bring a printed copy.

Valid ID: Both parties must present a valid government-issued photo ID.

Fee: $30, payable by cash or money order.

Both Parties Must Apply Together: In person or via video.


Notes:


• No waiting period, blood tests, or residency requirements in Virginia.

• Marriage ceremonies must be performed within 60 days of receiving your license.

• For religious ceremonies, officiants must be authorized by the Circuit Court.

Getting Married in Alexandria, Virginia
