Madison and Chris were such a cute couple that I have to give a quick shoutout to their love. Their family? So good to photograph. They knew the assignment and made everything easy.


Their wedding was at 9:00 AM, right when the gates opened. First ones there. It was a Sunday morning, and Airlie Gardens had a full-blown wedding the night before, so some of the setup—chairs, tents—was still there, which actually worked out for us.


Andrea, part of the Airlie Gardens staff, greeted us and took us around on the tram (seats eight, including the driver). There were 10 of us total, including my officiant/assistant/second photographer, Hilary—she’s part of the Pink Penguin Studios team.

Wedding Photos at Airlie Gardens


We stopped at The Lawn with the big oak tree, the pergola, and the Spring Garden. Andrea took us to all three. First up: the ceremony, then family photos, some candids, and finally, newlywed portraits.


The Lawn was first. Madison and Chris walked around while I got them into different spots. Having Hilary there was clutch—she’s been married 18 years (yesterday was actually her anniversary), and she hyped them up the whole time.

Wedding Photos at the Pergola

Then Andrea got us back on the tram to the pergola. I set them up by the water while I moved to the main path to capture one of my favorite shots of the day. After that, we walked through the pergola area, making sure to stay on schedule since we only had until 10:30 AM.

With 30 minutes left, I asked Andrea where else we could go. She took us to the Spring Garden, which was a whole vibe. It had these tall columns covered in ferns and ivy—felt like we stepped into an old-world ruin. Perfect way to end the session.


Parents signed the papers, and Madison and Chris went on with their day—just married!
