How to get your Marriage License

First off, you can get your marriage license from any county within North Carolina. But I'd generally suggest getting yours where you're getting married at because your officiant will need to file it with the Register of Deeds after the ceremony.

With that being said, here's how you get your marriage license.

  1. Call the Brunswick County Register of Deeds at (910) 253-2690 or email them at rod@brunswickcountync.gov
  2. Fill out the Marriage Application form here.
  3. Bring your Government Issued Photo ID or Passport and your Social Security Card. Your paystubs or your Tax forms are accepted.
  4. Bring $60 Cash. No card readers are available at the Brunswick County.
  5. You AND your partner are ready to appear at your scheduled appointment and get your Marriage License!

Note that the Marriage License in Brunswick County is only valid for 60 days. Be sure to get it within the date of your wedding.

Here's a few I'd highly recommend that service Bald Head Island.

Sherri Crawford

Sherri a fantastic officiant based in Wilmington, servicing Bald Head Island. The best way to get a hold of her is via phone or email. To make it easier for her, have a date & address to see if she's available for your date.

"If I could, I would give Sherri 10 stars out of 5! From the time we reached out to inquire about her services, Sherri was an absolute dream to work with to officiate our wedding. She is so warm and empathetic and took the time to craft a ceremony that was special and catered to us while also intertwining elements to make all of our guests feel welcome. We received countless comments on how special our ceremony was - all thanks to Sherri! I cannot recommend her enough - if you are looking for an officiant in Wilmington and surrounding areas, SHERRI IS YOUR GAL!"

Kelley Wheat-Rivers

Kelley operates without a website or weddingwire or the knot, so it might be hard to get a hold of her. But she's very well known in the Wilmington Community facebook group. So much so that she's recommended almost immediately, without hesitation. She's part of the LGBTQ community.

The best way to reach her is via email.
