How Do You Get Married in Kalamazoo, MI?

Here’s your checklist:

  1. Fill out a marriage license application.
  2. Get an appointment at the Kalamazoo County Clerk’s Office.
  3. Bring a valid photo ID, driver’s license, or passport.
  4. Bring Proof of Residency (Driver’s License, State ID, Utility Bill, Lease, etc.).
  5. Bring a certified copy of your birth certificate.
  6. Provide Social Security numbers for both applicants.
  7. Pay the marriage license fee: $20 for Michigan residents, $30 for out-of-state residents.
  8. Set up an appointment with an officiant.
  9. Attend the ceremony with your partner and 2 witnesses.
  10. Sign the marriage license.

How to Get a Kalamazoo County Marriage License

First, you’ll need to schedule an appointment at the Kalamazoo County Clerk’s Office.

Requirements:

Notes:

  • Michigan residents must apply in the county where they live. The license is valid anywhere in Michigan.

  • There is a required 3-day waiting period to obtain a license after submitting an application.
  • The license is valid for 33 days from the date of application.
  • If you need to waive the 3-day waiting period, an additional $15 fee applies.
