Fort Fisher Engagement Story
When I first spoke to Jackie, she was very straightforward with her location. She wanted to shoot her engagement session at a nearby beach with trees all around her.
She told me Fort Fisher is perfect.
It was my first time shooting her and immediately was very affectionate around the camera.
Which made it so easy to photograph them.
She held Jean's hand as we did our photoshoot and it really brought everything together.
Handsome - Most handsome dog
She absolutely love her dog.
So she brought him in our session.
I love it!
The Perfect Location
This Isolated Tree is the perfect location to do a session because not a single foot traffic went by our way.
The open space gives unobstructed shadows from the bright sun.
There's ledges where I can place my infatuated couples.
I want to do a shoot where I'd sit my couples under the bridge.
We made our way back to the forest with their dog Handsome
He's absolutely the cutest dog I've seen.
Angling Trees - Fort Fisher
These angling trees are absolutely beautiful. But requires a bit of creativity. So I used a few techniques from the old painters--Dynamic Symmetry.
The reason why I photographed it this way is because the subjects could easily be lost in the frame.
Too many distractions in the background which can be a bit dizzying in the eyes.
Sometimes it can feel claustrophobic.
I want to use the trees to lead the eyes towards the couples.
Fort Fisher Beach
After we finished at the boardwalk, we walked to the beach. It was quiet, not much foot traffic which is desired.
We come across this cylinders that are made out of concrete and gravel.
According to https://archaeology.ncdcr.gov/
Fort Fisher was constructed during the Civil War to guard the entrance to New Inlet and provide protection for the port of Wilmington.
We retreat to Fort Fisher Beach
We finally get to our final leg in our session.
I asked them to grab a blanket so we can lie down on the beach and end it as the sunsets
Bring in some of the most JUICIEST photos.
