An engagement session at home
What's really wonderful about this is that you don't need to leave your home. Literally. Our engagement session prep is just getting matching clothes(which actually works in this gallery, many times its very tacky, very quickly). We also arranged some furnitures around so I would have room to get the right angles in my shots.
If the beach doesn't work for you, why not shoot at home?
You're less likely to be stared down by a stranger lol so for the introverts in the back, I've got you!
One other reason you might want a session at their home is because some couples want heir new home in their gallery.
Tips for a Home Engagement Session
Now being at home doesn't always work, if you don't prep up for your session, it could look very distracting.
Since I did Real Estate photography before Engagement Sessions, here are some tips make my scene look comfortable:
- remove any cups, appliances
- on the kitchen counters and tables
- any mugs on the coffee table
- hide any wires, toys, stack of papers, books, etc.
- vacuum the carpets if you have one, (at least areas where were going to photograph)
- sweep the floor
- water your plants, remove any brown leaves
- stage your table with wine and glass
Put your feet up!
This is your home, you are welcome to do as you please.
Turn up some music to add to the mood.
Do you want to feel intimate? put on some Marvin Gaye, Bee Gees or maybe you're a trendier couple, Tame Impala, The Weeknd, from Spotify, Youtube Music, or Pandora
Maybe if you have a timeless vinyl, let's do that!
As a reminder, we don't need intimate. just comfortable!
Let's head to the bedroom
When things are getting spicy
The bedroom is the next on the list
And don't worry if you don't want to go that route.
Its absolutely your call, you call the shots and I'll be there to photograph
Show Stopper - Backyard - Editorial
One thing that I like to do is create an editorial photo from the locations I go to
The purpose of it is create a sort of unique feeling.
I want these photos to be a showstopper. Everyone has seen candids, family photos.
But to stand out from the crowd, almost how florists design a center pieces, I want to make something special.
Something that you'll want to hang on your fire place
A large wall art.
