One thing I have to say about Bald Head Island is that its, detached from the world. The only access to the Island is by ferry via Southport, NC. Most couples who choose to get married on Bald Head Island have either spent time there on a summer vacation, have parents or grandparents who own a home on the island, or at the very least, know someone with connections to the area.
Couples getting married at the Village Chapel often host their reception at Bald Head Island Club (a members-only venue) or at a rental property.
In the case of bride Elisa and groom Chris, they got ready at their summer home, held their ceremony at the Village Chapel, and celebrated with a reception at Bald Head Island Club. Their dad, being a member, made it possible to host the event there. It was an intimate gathering, and coordinating the day was seamless—it only took me and the wedding planner, Devon, to organize the entire party.
We had a blast, to say the least!
Getting Ready, Portraits of Groom and Bride, First Touch
Dev and I arrived via ferry from Southport at 11:00AM. We greeted the bride and groom and let them know our presence. We invited them and their guests to ask any photos that they want at anytime of the wedding.
16 people waited patiently for the bride and groom to get ready on the second floor of the house.
Chris hid in his room with a broken leg from a skiing accident. He was upset about it but we moved forward with the wedding. Despite the accident, he wasn't even close to getting cold feet.
Getting To the Village Chapel, Ceremony
Chris went ahead to the Village Chapel to get ready. I stuck around with the bride and mom. We took the golf carts from their house to the chapel. It was pleasant ride, the weather was cloudy and mild.

Entrance, First Dance, Dinner, Bubble Exit
When Chris, Elise, and I wrapped up their portraits, Devon was already at the reception, ensuring everything was ready. The guests were seated, waiting patiently for their first dance. Chris switched to his leg brace so he could share a dance with Elise and his mom—a touching moment that meant so much to everyone there.
As the sun set after dinner, we gathered all 16 guests at the golf club to prepare for the bubble exit. It was the perfect way to wrap up the celebration.
Notes:
One thing I'd like to note though is that, I would have probably hired a second to get photos at the reception while there weren't there. I wish I was able to get detailed shots of the plates, cards, separate photos with the groom getting ready. Yes it was a small party but managing the shots that required me staying on top of the bride and the groom is already handful.
